The 6th Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Workers Innovation Competition, sponsored by the Shandong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, recently concluded its final round. This year's competition featured 6 categories: Next-generation Information Technology, High-end Equipment, New Energy and Materials, Medical Care and Health, High-end Chemicals, and Modern Agriculture. After recommendations and selections from various endorsing organizations, and through rounds of expert initial reviews, second reviews, and finals, a total of 89 winning projects were selected from 281 entries. Among them, Shandong WoHua Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.'s project on Fully Mechanized and Socialized Service for Large Scallions won the first prize in the competition.
Shandong WoHua Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. is the birthplace and origin of the "WoHua Model" for fully mechanized planting services of large scallions. This model has propelled the upgrading of the large scallion industry. Leveraging the advantage of Anqiu's large scallion cultivation, the company has innovated its agricultural approach, paving the way for an industrialized cultivation and socially-oriented service model for large scallions, characterized by "factory-style production" and integrated development.
Through independent research and development, the company has established "Five Core Technologies" for fully mechanized large scallion planting: pelletization and coating of scallion seeds, precision sowing, factory-style seedling cultivation, automated transplanting, and intensive harvesting. These technologies effectively address the issues of time-consuming and labor-intensive traditional cultivation methods, ultimately enhancing production efficiency.

It is reported that the "WoHua Model" involves customers placing orders, and the company takes care of everything from sowing to seedling cultivation to transplanting. Farmers truly become the decision-makers, and compared to traditional cultivation methods, it saves labor and effort. For instance, for planting large areas like 10, 30, or even 50 acres, previously, farmers would rely on labor teams for planting, which could take a week or more. However, if the company takes care of the transplanting, it could be completed comfortably in just one day. The company's socialized service not only helps large scallion growers save costs but also guarantees quicker time to market.
Furthermore, the automation of scallion transplanting ensures uniform and robust seedlings, leading to increased productivity.
With a scallion planting area of around 300,000 acres in Anqiu City, the foundation for the development of the "WoHua Model" has been established. The company's operational model was recognized by the national government as one of the first batch of "Fully Mechanized + Comprehensive Farming" service center exemplary cases to be promoted nationwide. It has now become an industry leader in the large scallion seedling sector.

The collaboration between Anqiu City's Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau and the company led to the successful application and approval of the national industry standard "Technical Regulations for Factory-style Seedling Cultivation of Large Scallions" by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This standard will fill the gap in industry standards for factory-style scallion seedling cultivation in China, providing robust technical support for intensive and standardized scallion cultivation. It will also serve as an industry reference for the further development of the national scallion industry.
